How the HUBZone Program Works
The HUBZone program helps small businesses in Historically Underutilized Business Zones win federal contracts. To qualify, a firm's principal office must be in a HUBZone and at least 35% of its employees must live in one. Certified firms can compete for HUBZone set-asides and sole-source awards, and receive a 10% price evaluation preference in full and open competitions.

Your Staffing Plan Can Cost You Your Status
Winning a large contract is a HUBZone firm's best day and, if handled badly, its riskiest. Hiring dozens of people who live outside a HUBZone can drop you below the 35% residency threshold. We plan staffing in the proposal with residency in mind and work with our recruiters to find qualified candidates who keep the numbers right.
Use the Price Preference Deliberately
The 10% price evaluation preference matters most in full and open competitions where price weighs heavily. It does not rescue a weak technical volume. We decide early whether a bid should rely on a HUBZone set-aside, the preference, or both, and write the proposal for that route.
